Nevada a Step Closer to Legalization …

The Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol in Nevada needs 101,667 valid signatures to qualify a legalization initiative for the 2016 ballot, and last week the group submitted as many as 200,000 signatures for verification.  If the signatures are in order, both houses of the Nevada State Legislature must consider the measure during the first 40 days of the legislative session that begins soon after the first of the year.  Lawmakers could approve the initiative on a super-majority vote and send it to Governor Brian Sandoval for his signature and so become law; or the legislature can take no action, and the measure would go before Nevada voters in November, 2016.
